The Heart of the Matter

At SCRC, we understand that the substances are just a symptom of the problem. Here, we identify the underlying issues by treating the individual as a whole. It’s an “inside out job” that requires a deep dive and discovery process, in order to correctly identify the core reasonings behind every addiction.

Charlie Goines
Program Director

I came to SCRC in March 2019 as a client, desperate to find a new way of living. After many years caught in the spirals of addiction, failures in my profession as an accountant, and lost relationships, I came broken but found what I needed at SCRC. After establishing a foundation in the recovery community and completing the program, I was given the opportunity to remain with the program as a house manager. I began working with the clinical team in April 2021.

I have a passion for the work that I get to do on a daily basis. Being a very purpose-driven individual, I am motivated by how my work directly contributes to the lives of others. I am able to use all my personal experiences, good and bad, as the foundation to connect with others. I am motivated by finding this connection, and seek to meet clients where they are at. I want to give to others what was so freely given to me, and help others find what I have found.

In my current role at SCRC, I oversee the program and work side by side with the clinical staff to deliver ongoing support to our clients. Through balancing management skills and leadership qualities, my goal is always to provide the best treatment experience. It is a great opportunity to be involved in a client’s journey from day one through their transition back into society. I completed school in September 2022 and am currently awaiting to take my licensing exam to obtain CADC.

In my personal life, I remain committed to living a balanced lifestyle – Physical, Mental, and Spiritual. I enjoy hiking, working out, and playing chess. Living in Orange County has also opened up so many great opportunities to travel and enjoy areas all along the coastline.
